This is only a deal for those who are willing to put in a little time and work.

Recently, the Microsoft Store sent out a coupon codes for $50 off $100+ purchase, trying to encourage preorder of the Kinect. These were only sent to those who had recently purchased something from the Microsoft store. However, with a little work, you can get the discount even if you didn’t get the email.

Basically, you need to get a hold of customer service and tell them that “your friend” got this discount and wanted to know if you’re eligible too.

I first tried calling their customer service and asked. Some on CAG have reported this to work, but I was shot down immediately saying the discount was only for those who made a previous purchase. Based on the reports on CAG, I’d say the chance of this working is about 25%.

Then, I emailed them using this link asking the same thing. I got the response:

I emailed back, they called back and hooked me up. Basically everyone else on CAG who tried this got it to work (no report yet of anyone getting shot down via the email method).
